Terms of Service

SmartYardage is currently a beta product offered free of charge. It is provided “as is” and “as available.” Features may change, break, or be removed; data may be lost; the Service may be suspended or discontinued at any time. We'll do our best to give notice of significant changes, but during beta we can't guarantee it.

SmartYardage produces estimates derived from your phone's camera and microphone plus physics-based modeling. Ball speed and launch angle are measurements with stated tolerances; spin and carry distance are modeled estimates. None of it is guaranteed accurate, and the Service is not a substitute for a professional launch monitor or a club fitting.

Don't rely on SmartYardage numbers where accuracy matters beyond practice: for competition, coaching decisions, equipment purchases, or wagers. We accept no liability for decisions made based on the numbers the Service shows you.

You're responsible for using the Service safely and lawfully: follow your range's rules, keep your phone and belongings secure, stay aware of the people around you while swinging, and don't point cameras where they're not welcome. You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.

You agree not to misuse the Service, including attempting to disrupt it, probing or circumventing its security, scraping it, or reverse-engineering it beyond what applicable law permits.

The Service requests access to your camera (to measure ball flight) and microphone (to detect the sound of impact). Both are processed on your device in real time. You can revoke these permissions in your browser at any time; core features won't work without them.

Shot results are stored locally on your device. You own your data. Our handling of any information is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

The Service, including its software, design, and content, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by applicable law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your own golf practice. That's it: no resale, no commercial redistribution.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its measurements will meet any particular accuracy threshold.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (during beta: zero) and fifty US dollars.

We may update these terms as the Service evolves, for example when paid plans are introduced. When we make material changes we'll update the effective date above and take reasonable steps to notify you in the app. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

You can stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service for any user who violates these terms. Sections 2, 7, and 8 survive termination.
