Privacy Policy

SmartYardage uses your camera to measure ball flight and your microphone to detect the sound of impact. All of this processing happens on your device, in your browser, in real time.

• We do not upload, store, or transmit your video or audio.
• Recordings are not retained after a shot is processed; only the resulting numbers (ball speed, launch angle, estimates) are kept.
• Camera and microphone access run only while you have a session open, and you can revoke both in your browser settings at any time.

Shot results (club, ball speed, launch angle, estimated spin and carry, confidence, and timestamps) are stored locally on your device using your browser's storage. During the current beta there are no accounts, and this data is not synced to our servers.

If we add optional cloud sync (so your history can survive a lost phone or move between devices), it will be opt-in, this policy will be updated first, and local storage will remain the primary home of your data.

Clearing your browser's site data for smartyardage.com deletes your shot history. Installing the app to your home screen when prompted protects it from automatic browser eviction.

We keep collection minimal, and none of it is sold or shared for advertising:

• Technical error reports. If the app hits an error, diagnostic details (error message, page, browser version) may be reported to us through our hosting platform so we can fix it. These reports don't include your video, audio, or shot history.
• Camera capability results. The diagnostics test shows results on your screen. They're sent to us only if you copy and share them yourself.
• Basic request logs. Like nearly every website, our hosting infrastructure logs requests (IP address, user agent, pages requested) for security and reliability.

If you use the optional weather-based accuracy features in the future, the app may request your approximate location to look up altitude and air conditions. That lookup would be used for the calculation, not stored as a location history.

• We don't sell your data. To anyone. In beta or after.
• We don't run third-party advertising or ad trackers.
• We don't upload your video or audio, ever.
• We don't require an account, an email, or a card to use the beta.

We use browser storage (IndexedDB, localStorage, service worker caches) to make the app work: storing your shot history, preferences, and offline assets. We don't use cookies for tracking.

The Service isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

As the product grows out of beta (accounts, sync, paid plans), this policy will be updated before those features ship. We'll update the effective date above and take reasonable steps to notify you in the app when changes are material.
